Jaeger Lecoultre Timepieces
Jaeger LeCoultre, or JLC, is headquartered in Le Sentier, Vaud, Switzerland. The company traces its roots back to Antoine LeCoultre, who was born in 1803 and died in 1881. He would manufacture high-quality watches from a small workshop in Le Sentier. His son, Elie LeCoultre, transformed the family workshop into a manufacture in 1886. Since its first days, Jaeger LeCoultre has been providing parts and movements to other renowned luxury Swiss watch companies.
The Neuchatel Observatory awarded the company with the highest distinction for its tourbillon Caliber 170 in 1940. The Jaeger LeCoultre museum was founded in 1982 in Le Sentier. The Hybris Mechanica, the most complicated timepiece to have ever been created, was unveiled to the world by JLC in 2009.
