Panerai Timepieces
Panerai was founded by Giovanni Panerai, who was born in 1825 and died in 1897. Panerai founded the luxury watch company in 1860, in the city of Florence. Panerai officially supplied the Royal Italian Navy with watches. Italian commando frogmen wore Panerai timepieces to help sink allied naval vessels during the Second World War.
The four major Panerai collections include the Historic collection, the Contemporary collection, the Manifattura collection and Special Editions.
In 2009, Panerai announced its sponsorship of the British Classic Yacht Club Cowes Regatta, in an effort to increase its UK target market.
